If so, you are not alone!
For years I dreamed of owning my own business and being able to take the leap from the corporate world to a life of entrepreneurism. Waking up, being in charge of my own schedule, going from being told what to do to being the “boss-woman” & most importantly, doing what I am passionate about and making a difference in other people’s lives.
As scary as it was, I took the leap this year after 20+ years in the corporate world and let me tell you, there has not been one day that I have woken up thinking “What the heck have I done?” It has truly been the opposite of that. Refreshing. Freeing. Calming. Satisfying. & to be honest, a bit scary sometimes because after all, I am 100% in charge of growing this new biz that I have launched and its success (or failure, which is not an option!) is completely on my shoulders.
I would encourage anyone to follow your dreams; you only have one life to live so make it the best one possible!
So if you are considering taking this same leap, I have a few tips that have made this transition a smooth & positive one for me:
1.Be Confident & Believe In Yourself. You are your best advocate and you are the recipe to your own success. Whether you are taking the leap to create your own business or invest in a powerful, proven brand… you are the key to your success!
2.Have a Strong Support System. Above all else, be confident & know you will be successful. But, having a strong support system to lift you up and encourage you along the way is priceless. Life can be challenging so sometimes we can all use a little boost from our loved ones. Not to mention, this support system can also help promote and advocate you and your new biz.
3.Build Powerful Networks. I cannot stress this enough. I have found my tribe at The Dostal House. These women inspire me day in and day out & I have learned so much from this group of female entrepreneurs; even though we have very different fields, we are all faced with the same challenges in small business ownership and learn a great deal from one another.
4.Know Your Niche & Target Market. Narrowing down “who” you are targeting and “why” will be one of the most important keys to your success. It may feel intimidating at first and like you are narrowing down your potential possibilities, but by speaking directly to a certain market your voice will be all the more powerful and your passion will shine through.
5.Never Stop Learning. These past few months have been a journey of learning for me since I don’t have an administrative assistant to lean on, a hotline to the IT department, or can dial up my financial analyst. I am that person, all those persons, and I am so grateful. I am growing and learning each and every day. And hey, this is my debut blog!
Seriously, I could go on and on with tips & tricks of becoming an entrepreneur or “boss-woman” but at the risk of doing so, I will leave it at that.
Future blogs will be more focused on the world of franchising… benefits, where to get started, what franchise systems do I think are the bomb right now, etc. So stay tuned, there’s much more to come.
